Guilty as sin...

Poor old Reg has a small cut on his back after some exuberant playing with a woofer buddy.  It's not bothering him at all, but seems to have had a most worrying effect on Percy. In case you are new to my blog, and think I have some very peculiar friends,  Percy and Reg are my Miniature Schnauzers.  Percy is three years older than Reg, and extremely sensible, whereas Reg should probably have been locked up some years ago.

Anyway, back to the cut.  The vet advised keeping it uncovered so that it would dry out, which is what we've done.  However, Percy, who up till now has merely tolerated the other furry interloper in the house, has taken a bit of a shining to Reg and his cut. 

Coming home from work last week, the dogs didn't greet me at the door in their usual way.  Walking into the lounge, there they both were.  Percy was licking the wound and Reg was sitting on the rug with his eyes glazed over.  All I could think was that I had stumbled on to the equivalent of dog porn.  Flapping Percy away with my scarf, Reg looked up at me with a 'Don't stop', sort of look, while a red faced Percy skulked off behind the sofa.

This has continued over the last ten days, and I'm sure that the minute I leave for work each morning, the two of them dim the lounge lights, put on some soft music and get down to business.

I have tried to discourage Percy by spraying saline onto Reg's back, but lo and behold, Percy looks upon this as an equivalent to massage oil, and I seem to have taken on the role of dog pimp in his eyes.  He follows poor old Reg around, muttering 'Steak Tartare' under his breath and salivating.

Naturally I'm worried that the cut won't heal with it's continual basting, so later today I am heading to the vet to collect a baby grow for Reg.

Of course, this could open a whole new can of worms.

Reg:  'Like me new strides, Perce?'  

Percy: 'Oh Reggie, you dressed up for me.  Oh you temptress'...
